From April 14, 2024, to April 28, 2024, Karīna Adamoviča-Krišāne, a teacher from LBTU Malnava College, participated in the Erasmus+ project "Mobility of Individuals in the Field of Education" – "Job Shadowing" (No. 2023-1-LV01-KA121-VET-000142657). The objectives of this project were to enhance pedagogical language competence, technological competence, learning competence, teaching competence, and to broaden teachers' understanding of European Union countries by exploring the culture, traditions, and history of the visited countries. The funding for this project is provided by the EU Lifelong Learning Program, co-financed by the European Union.
At the end of April, a two-week job shadowing took place in Denmark at Green Academy Aarhus (Jordbrugets Uddannelsescenter Århus), Beder Campus.
During this time, the teacher gained experience by observing classes and educational extracurricular activities, familiarized themselves with the Danish education system, participated in discussions about curriculum, modern teaching methods, and forms of work. During the mobility, an innovative work environment was explored; experience and ideas were gained regarding the integration of curriculum content principles, the connection of theory with life, and the development of research skills for students, as well as the improvement of student collaboration skills. Within the project, not only was another country's education system explored, but also the traditions, culture, and history of the nation. During the mobility, the educator provided information about their school, city, country, and improved their language skills by communicating in English with colleagues at partner schools.
Upon returning from the job shadowing, the teacher discussed their observations with students, shared experiences with colleagues, presenting what they observed at the partner school. During the project implementation, the teacher's understanding of the education system and teaching organization in various European Union countries has expanded. The teacher incorporates examples of observed good practices into their own teaching.
